Application processing times
An unprecedented number of applications received by the Board in May and June will result in longer processing times for some applications. The Medical Board and Queensland Health Area Health Services have an escalation process in place which ensures applications for critical positions are processed with priority. General practitioner applications are still being processed within normal timelines.
If you are a medical practitioner registered in Queensland you must notify the Board within 21 days if you:
This allows your registration details and the Public Access Register to be updated.
Medical practitioners should notify the Board by letter, email or telephone of your address change. You should state your name, registration number, previous and new address. Only one address can be recorded on the Register at any one time. If your new address is your residential address, you should also state whether or not you wish it to appear on the Register of Medical Practitioners, which is available to the public. Your residential address will not be made available to the public unless you have given permission to do so.
Notification by phone is available during normal business hours and will require you to also provide details to confirm your identity to enable the change to be effected.
Once the Register address has been amended, you will receive a confirmation letter advising that the Board’s records have been updated.
NOTE: It is essential that the Board is kept up to date with your current address as your Application for Renewal will be forwarded to the address recorded on the Register in May of each year.
The provision of an email address would be appreciated to provide the Board an additional contact address.
In order to affect a change in your name you must submit the following:
If a change of name is required to be noted on the Original Certificate, the Certificate should be returned with the prescribed fee and certified documentary evidence of change of name (see Change of Name).
If you lose your original Certificate of Registration, or it has been destroyed or damaged, a Statutory Declaration stating same is required. In addition, it will be necessary to submit the prescribed fee of AUD $29.00.
