An International Medical Graduate (IMG) is someone who has gained their primary medical qualification outside of Australia or New Zealand.
If you are an IMG and have passed both Australian Medical Council (AMC) examinations – Multiple Choice Questionnaire and Clinical Examination – and hold an AMC Certificate you are eligible to apply for General registration in Queensland. If you have Australian specialist qualifications or training and experience which has been assessed by the relevant specialist college as being comparable to that of an Australian trained specialist, you are eligible to apply for specialist registration.
Please note: All Special Purpose applicants are required to progress towards General, Specialist or s138 registration within four (4) consecutive years of holding registration in Queensland. If you hold fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) or of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM), you can apply for Special Purpose registration. You will need to complete the Application for Special Purpose Registration – Medical Practitioner/Deemed Specialist (Form M1SP) and provide the supporting application documents.
