Application processing times
An unprecedented number of applications received by the Board in May and June will result in longer processing times for some applications. The Medical Board and Queensland Health Area Health Services have an escalation process in place which ensures applications for critical positions are processed with priority. General practitioner applications are still being processed within normal timelines.
To allow you to refer to yourself as a medical practitioner, while holding non-practising registration. Non-practising registration means the cessation of all medical practice activities, including the writing of remunerated or unremunerated prescriptions or specialist referrals.
To be eligible for non-practising registration you must hold current registration, or have been registered previously under the current or the repealed Act, or corresponding law.
NOTE: To re-activate practicing registration an application for registration will need to be made in the usual way in order to re-apply for full registration.
