Application processing times
An unprecedented number of applications received by the Board in May and June will result in longer processing times for some applications. The Medical Board and Queensland Health Area Health Services have an escalation process in place which ensures applications for critical positions are processed with priority. General practitioner applications are still being processed within normal timelines.
To allow medical practitioners to apply for general, specialist, or special purpose registration for short term registration of no more than 5 weeks, for which no application fee or registration fee will apply.
To be eligible to apply for this provision the Board must be satisfied that you have a good reason for a period of registration of that length.
You must complete an application form for general, specialist, or special purpose registration together with the short term application form. To assist the Board you must also attach any relevant supporting documents (e.g. appointment letter etc) confirming the period of registration (no more than 5 weeks/35 days) being sought.
NOTE: Only 1 short term registration period is available per applicant in each registration year, unless otherwise indicated by the Board.
